Send More Soap

[Steel helmets were not issued to the British Army until later in 1916, so the scene of the soldier in a trench using his cap as a writing desk is not entirely fanciful.]
I doubt if even Pears soap could make a soldier in the trenches feel exhilarated! An example of when the streamline should have been abandoned.

ReplyDeleteI see what you mean, although I should think that when men weren't actually under fire, being able to wash themselves must have been important.
